Two weeks away ...
I really need to do a better job of remembering to take pictures during our rehearsal. However, we were missing three actors, one from each one of the performance pieces, and it was trying enough to get everyone on task without being able to actually perform what has already been prepared. Not to mention I was a Papa Penguin tonight so Xolecito had to accompany me to our rehearsal. It was great to see him interact with the other actors during the exercises but once we separated into groups and started working, he was a little bored.
Still, I was able to check in with all of the groups as they spoke on what worked and what didn't during their run-throughs last week. Costumes and make-up were also discussed. At that point, I was really wanting to see them run through their performances so we planned for a worst-case scenario in case the three actors are not able to make the Open Mic and had them use one another to fill in the missing roles. At the end of the night, we were able to see Angel and Sarah fill in for Abel and Emma, and they ran Isabel, Maria, and Luke's piece. It actually wasn't that bad, the two walk-ins did pretty well, and I was able to give them some general notes regarding the body of the story I hope will serve useful once we get our other actors back.
I felt bad that Kayla, Sierra, Marques, and Fernando didn't get to perform anything today. My hope is this will be a good lesson learned by everyone about the importance of making rehearsal when involved with a performance that is less than a month away.
Instead of a picture of the rehearsal, I'm going to add a
picture marketing the "Rattlesnake Festival" that will be occurring this weekend in San Antonio. I really like the design and it reminds me of how I need to find someone to help us create an image for our group so we can market ourselves more easily.
