It's been an incredible year!

Today was our last rehearsal before 2018. I will be out of town next week and then I will begin rehearsals for "The Tempest" with Jobsite Theater at the Straz Center. Which means we will be on a short hiatus until the show is over in the end of January.

We were not able to perform last week due to some unforeseeable circumstances but DTC showed up strong and we managed to present a recording of our presentation for the Tampa Bay Theatre Festival. Unfortunately, it was all in English but I was happy we didn't show up empty handed and that the audience was able to at least see we had performed at a professional venue, even if they didn't understand what was being said. I was also proud of pulling off being able to use a projector and portable screen in the park to be able to show the presentation, without WiFi.

(On a side note, I had a cute kid watching me set up and ask if I could put on for the Christmas movie "The Grinch." Then, when I said we had to play music, he requested "Despacito," by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee ... it was the cutest thing.)

We took the beginning part of today's rehearsal to check in with one another and see where it was we have been and where it is we would like to go. Then we rounded things out with a couple of exercises: using the force to walk in space, we did a couple of rounds of charades, we did some group circle exercises such as the "Number, letters, colors ... ," "fighting Gallo jumps," and then some regular improv "debate scenarios."

Afterwards, I was happy to see the gang show up and surprise me at the eatery I had stopped at to get a late bite in. It was nice to hang out with them, see them hanging out with each other, and to chat about where it is they are going in life, what they want to be doing. I will miss seeing them every week but am excited for the small adventure I will be partaking in with other artists my age in an environment I have not been in before, doing work different than what I am normally used to. A couple of months doesn't really seem like that long and probably will go by really fast, but I worry about how they will pass their time and hope to see them all back again when we return at the end of January to continue the work!

See you in 2018!

P.S. Forgot to mention I was able to bust out some lovely plays that were donated to our group by the wonderful Ms. Tonita Melendez of Zephyrhills Middle School. We are happy to be starting our first DTC library with these scripts and already have one individual checking out the following:

Doesn't Marquee look excited?
