Now we're getting somewhere!

- not too shabby for a summer Wednesday night
- great to see everyone sitting around the table and reading script (and enjoying themselves)
- moment when María stood up and started directing
- design process turned out to be more productive than I was expecting
- "board meeting" aspect was rough, but we got through it
I was somewhat nervous about this evening's rehearsal given it was the second week everyone had off from school, but it was very reassuring to see everyone show up. (Even half of us were on time!) I was a little more laid back because I realized it had been a while since everyone had seen one another, so I went with it. All in all, it wasn't too shabby for a Wednesday night.
Given we only meet once a week, I have decided to include everyone in the "organization" of our process and have made them the unofficial board members so we can conduct business at the start of our rehearsals. This also gives the late-comers time to show up. It was somewhat rough and difficult to make sure I had everyone's attention, but I feel we were pretty productive.

Then I pulled out the scripts to the show we're working on for September and everyone put their game faces on. I was so happy to see everyone organized around the table and enjoying themselves as we read María's piece; it was magical. After, we discussed what the best way would be to divide up scenes present within the show; our playwright was pretty close when it came to separating the course of the action into scenes. In the end, we decided the show really only needed to be 3 scenes long, instead of 4.

At one point, I was happy to see María get up from the table and move her actors around to further show how she thought one of the scenes should go.
I tried to model it as a regular table read and gave an opportunity for the group to speak on the different design aspects of the show. Everyone has been tasked to a particular job, but it was nice to hear everyone discuss different options to be considered.

It was a great rehearsal, even though we spent the majority of it sitting down. My hope is that next time, we can do a little more talking about characters and eventually, get on our feet and start getting this thing blocked.
