And ... we're off!
- Better late than never
- Took a little while, but we got there
- Great progress made; 1/3 of the way there!
- Can't wait until next week.
Well, after a couple weeks hiatus from rehearsing, we got back in there and I was happy to see the four folks that showed up to rehearse. I can tell everyone missed one another and Sarah, María, and I were able to catch up with one another before Angel and Eddie showed up. We could have spent the entire time "hanging out," but I got us up on our feet and working because we have a long road ahead of us.
I would have preferred to have started a little earlier, but it was what it was. Then, while working it seemed we were running into some hurdles that were preventing our progress. I attempted approaching the material a couple of different ways, had us break up the script into different beats, and even had María work with Sarah while I worked with Angel. When it still wasn't working, we had to take a 5 minute break, then remember what it is was we are working towards.
Thankfully, we were able to get through at least one third of the material and both Sarah and Angel ended up off script for the majority of it. We ran it about three different times, María and I giving notes in between, and after the third run, I felt great about calling it "a night." They have been given the homework to be off book by next week and I can't wait to see how it will all come together by then.
Homework given: memorization of the rest of the script and to confirm whether or not we will make plans to see "Bad Jews" at American Stage on Saturday, July 21st.
