We did it!
- TBTF Performance
- DTC Jr. laying down ground-work
Yup, the third "Tampa Bay Theatre Festival" DTC had submitted to and was accepted to perform in, is officially behind us and I couldn't be happier at the outcome.
Here is a link to an actual review by the "Tampa Bay Times:"
There were two sessions of performance on that day, one in the morning, the other during the afternoon. I had a couple of colleagues in the audience, one who was able to see both sessions and unofficially gave us a solid 2nd place for our afternoon session, and 4th overall. I will take that, especially knowing the obstacles we were able to overcome to get there. I'll admit, the show wasn't perfect: we could have used more volume for our gunshots, we were having a slight issue with regards to the sound at the end, and I may have flubbed up one of my lines at the end, but so goes the life of the theatre. (Bless Marques' heart, I think he knew I was searching for it and charged right ahead with his line!)
For those interested in watching our short, "Ricochet," we have included a link to the video that has been uploaded to YouTube under our "Works" tab on this site.
As for DTC, Jr., we continue to meet and work so as to lay down some solid ground-work and begin creating for our own future performances. I have a core group coming in every week and I am dedicated to them, as long as they continue to arrive. It's great to see their enthusiasm to play a bunch of theatre games. My hope: this is what will inspire them to continue arriving so we can advance the work and get to a similar place as the original group, if not further.
I have included this last picture so both DTC groups can see I'm not only serving as their coach, but as a student as well, to those that have more experience and knowledge than me. I was honored to have been coached during a prepared scene we presented for the TBTF Master Acting Class with the great Harry Lennix, and I'm grateful for his time, his words of wisdom, and of course, his instruction. May he continue to bless this Festival with his presence for years and years to come!
