The first game of "BS" was played!
- played BS for the first time
- never even finished one round
- agreed we had enough material for the beginning and
- decided to use Image Theatre and Improv to flesh out the middle next time
- DTC has been invited to see Jobsite Theater's "Othello" tomorrow evening
Angel, María, Evan, and Sarah made the meeting yesterday evening. They were supposed to have brought a deck of cards but knowing the group, I decided to bring my own just in case. (Good thing I did!)
Angel and María went over the rules and we began to play the game. It didn't take long for us to enjoy it! I was also surprised at how easy it was to enjoy conversation and people's "poker faces." (Which will make it perfect for the script!) It was also interesting to analyze what strategies could be used to achieve an advantage over the other players. (I was nervous I didn't have a full deck of cards at the beginning, but in the end, it really didn't matter. As long as there was enough for all of us and we ended up with about 10 cards each anyways, so it had to have been close.)
After about an hour, we decided we had had enough and counted cards to see who had the least. I believe it was Sarah that won, and Angel and María may have come second, Evan third, and I had the most (of course!).
We had a good conversation about how to attack writing the script for next time, what beats we needed to hit given the shape of the story, and planned on what should occur next week so we can flesh out the rest of the story. Marques was not at the rehearsal and I wanted his input for the script, so we cut it short and decided to wait for him next week.
It was also agreed if I could solidify comps for my show, the group would agree to attend this evening. I sent an email to the director and was pleased to receive an affirmative response about an hour later. Now to see who will show up!
