We have new members!
- potentially two new members
- dinner granted to us by church in conjunction with Margarita
- played games to help acclimate the new members
- excited to begin working on new project
DTC received somewhat of a freebie this evening: a church
that works with Margarita wanted to treat our group to dinner so we met at the pavilion and enjoyed some pizza and soft
drinks, on them. Unfortunately, Narsedahlia had arrived to deliver it and we never met any of their representatives to be able to formally thank them. But 7 hungry boys made quick work of three large pies and we were grateful!
I was excited to see Roberto return, a young man that also showed up the week before and who I believe will continue to participate with us on our journey. I also met Santiago, who seems to go to school with Olegario, and willingly joined in this evening's exercises. I can't wait to see how this will change the dynamic of the group.
We had a small chat regarding this weekend's "Rattlesnake
Festival," the amount of rehearsals we have left before we will need to perform, and I asked for them to begin considering some new themes for the show we will begin to write next. Giovanni mentioned he wanted to take it on, and that he was the most creative one out of the group. I believe some of the others had something to say about that, and I reminded him it had been Jaime and Alfonzo that came up with the concept of the first show we created.
We finished kind of early and because it was so nice out and we were next to the field, I let them play soccer while I spoke with Elliott, a new assistant to Margarita, about some audio
needs for our next presentation. Xol was with me as well and I figured it would be better for them to run off some of that food instead of my trying to get them to rehearse for the last 15 minutes that were left. We'll meet one more time next week, we'll be off for Halloween, and then we'll come back and have about three of four solid weeks to prepare for the Turkey Day presentation.
I can definitely tell the group is ready to move on to the next project. While we were enjoying food, these were some of the topics that were discussed and that I am hoping we can re-visit: cancer, a quiceñera for boys, and who goes to what kind of school and why.
