- reconvened after some time

- discussed plans to grow our membership

- interested in participating in the "Voices of Truth Festival" in March

- led us through some exercises

Dreamer's Teatro Crew met virtually yesterday evening (Labor Day) and I was so happy to see everyone's familiar faces once again! The best part was that for the most part, everyone showed up! We had taken a little hiatus after I saw that each time we would schedule a time to meet, the same two actors would be the only ones to show through our "zoom room". We decided to chalk it up to being the complications that everyone was navigating in regards to the pandemic and not having dependable devices that could be used to chime in to the meetings. We agreed that once class would start back up and folks had devices in their hands again, maybe it would be easier to meet. This would also give us an opportunity to recruit more students to the group.

In July, I celebrated 6 years of organizing with this community and couldn't wait to begin our sessions. So I sent out communication through our text thread and was so relieved when I heard back from our actors, and that there were ready to begin again. We set the date and I really only expected to see half of them but was floored when all six showed up to play!

We briefly spoke of some plans to increase our membership, including extending an invitation to another group to join us during our weekly sessions. An event will be organized that I am hoping to be facilitated by the Outcast Theatre Collective (OTC), so we can invite this dance group and a few other folks that can join us to see what we are all about and continue to work with us through the year. I also mentioned a theatre festival that will be co-produced by OTC in March and we agreed to enter the short play we had recently completed and submitted to the "Tampa Theatre Festival." (We weren't able to see it come to fruition because the pandemic had cancelled the event, which would have been a part of this past weekend.)

When I saw we were doing a little too much talking, I began running through some games and exercises and we were back to playing in no time. I can't believe everyone came back! The majority were using their cell phones to join the meeting, which made it a little difficult to do everything we used to ... but like always, we'll find a way to make it work.

I can't wait to see what DTC will accomplish this year!
